Always check the instructions, when I was in university people used to mess up with the microwave mostly because they missed something it told them.

1. Check the power, 10 mins in a 1000 watt microwave is very different to a 700 watt one. Know the power of your microwave and whether it changes with different modes.

2. Remove any packaging that it tells you to, also check for any metal (if it’s a microwave product it shouldn’t have any but I’ve found a few that will by stupid design).

3. If it says to stir it do, microwaves do not heat evenly like conventional ovens, particularly if it’s old or battered. Stirring it helps prevent hot spots.

4. Make sure it’s clean, spills in microwaves will bake on and can catch fire.

5. Make sure that the cooking time given is the heating time not the total cooking time as sometimes they include the rest periods in that.

I’m sure you did all the above as stuff can still foul up but on the off chance I thought I’d say. Hope your day got better after.

Funny thing, from my own experience, it just matters what you buy, and how well you cook it for. 2 mins maybe more 3 mins max I would say. But usually I just get delivery lol
